4.0 the plan behind

Through this campaign I would like to form a very special network and every single creative person is invited to be a part of it. A permanent exhibition of the digitized submissions is planned on werkintirol.at with visitor participation.

. A catalog with all works will be compiled.

In this way, together we can make a contribution to giving female artists a voice and bringing their art into the public eye.

5.0 mail art

Through correspondence, the first networks were formed between people, important messages were transmitted, love relationships and friendships were maintained, and worlds were connected. But secret and forbidden content was also shared and the great value of freedom of expression was fought for. Mail art pioneers like Ray Johnson created a new form of non-commercial art distribution in the 1970s and connected people with each other through their love of art.

  1. Claudio asked me:

Hi, I’m very interested to your mail art call „Fan Art About Female Art“. I have just a question: the contribution have to be only a homage to a female visual artist or it can be a homage to a female writer, musician, etc?
    Please let me know (thanx!)
    Greetings,
    CG

    I answered:

    Hi Claudio!

Today, artists are defined as creative individuals in the fine arts, applied arts, performing arts, literature, and music who produce artistic creations known as works or works of art.

It is still important to me that I not only receive submissions about famous female pop singers, but that those women who have been overlooked by history receive recognition.

Ask yourself which artist inspires you the most. And if it’s a singer or a writer, I’d love to receive your input!

    Thank you for your question!

    Greatings,

    Claudia

    Dear Claudia,

I am so glad that you did not misinterpret my words, as my intention was really to collaborate with your project by bringing to light some sensitive points.

I understand your idea of interaction between audience and artist, which is very positive. Perhaps you would like to consider promoting exchange between the parties. Many ideas are possible from there.

I will be happy to send my submission very soon.

I wish the project great success and congratulate you on the organization and opportunity created.

    All the best,
    Marcia Rosenberger

    Dear Claudia,

    Your project is very interesting.

If you’ll allow me to make an observation, I’d like to highlight some basic principles of Mail Art.

Mail Art is inclusive by nature, all submitted works are accepted and exhibited in the show, as well as the inclusion of all works in the catalogues, since documentation is a very important tradition in this field.

There is no competition or hierarchy, everyone in Mail Art has the same value, regardless of their CV, so a vote to choose the best works seems strange to the basic principles of Mail Art.

Another fundamental principle is to encourage a network of contacts for the exchange of works and friendship with mutual respect, which is why we participate in as many calls for entries as possible. Artists spend precious time creating their works, which are done with care and sent as a gift to the recipient.

I hope that my words clarify just a few points that are very important to me as a mail artist. In no way do I intend to criticize your work, quite the opposite, I found your theme very interesting. I’m going to submit a work and also share it with the artists in my circle.

Ich wünsche Ihnen eine tolle Woche.

    Marcia Rosenberger

    1. Dear Marcia,
Thank you for your interest and your words about this project.
I appreciate your input. I’ve thought about it and considered the following changes.
I like the principle of participation – I didn’t want to announce a competition. The voting by visitors is not seen as an evaluation, but rather as an interaction.
I have therefore changed the wording and will ensure that this is not misunderstood when implementing it.
I like the suggestion of including all contributions in the catalog.
I’m really looking forward to your mailart contribution!
